Brave New World

Brave New World : Book Cover Redesign
Brave New World depicts a dystopian society devoid of individualism and emotion, revolving around the values of science and efficiency. Humans are born in test tubes and their intellectual capability is conditioned in labs depending on their assigned social caste. Meanwhile, Soma, a cure-all happiness drug is freely distributed and encouraged for consumption to wipe away all discontentment. Aldous Huxley’s purpose of writing this novel was to warn people about overreliance on science and technology leading to loss of aspirations and what makes us human, and the aforementioned medical aspects of the novel are most symbolic of that purpose. Thus, I chose to focus on conveying the bleak and distorted reality of such a society through that imagery: a liquid-filled tube sits in the center of the cover, decorated with pills and distorting the words “Brave New World”, ominously grey and bleak.
